Project: 3 THEMED ROOMS Location: Bardsey, Leeds Duration: 6 Weeks
Brief: To create a Moroccan themed guest room
I wanted to keep an element of contemporary design within this Moroccan themed room making it a room that you could relax in and spend a lot of time in. Colour Scheme - ‘Any colour goes - as long as they clash’ In terms of the furniture and paint colours I kept the room very dark and subdued with distressed walls in shades of dark red and wengé wooden furniture. The lighting and wrought iron pieces - screen, bird cage and lanterns were all black and imported from Morocco. My burst of colour came in the softer furnishings - lots of cushions, throws and rugs in rich bright clashing colours with gold’s and mirrored pieces within the detail of the fabric. I found a beautiful Moroccan bench with carved wood with silk cushions which sits perfectly underneath the window which is dressed in wengé finished wooden shutters. This room is full of colour and excitement.
